Remote learning comes with various key benefits, such as providing access to learning materials, a curriculum with rich content and scheduling flexibility.
FREMONT, CA: All aspects of an organization are now covered by remote work, including HR, learning and development, and all other related functions. As a result, remote training is now at the forefront of every organization's learning and development strategy. Many have discovered, however, that it's not quite as simple as switching all your ILT sessions to Skype.
Effective remote learning practices and strategies:
Software selection: Whether organizations are onboarding new hires or providing remote training to existing staff, they will need the right tools. At a minimum, they will probably need some of the following tools in order to make revision a reality:
Management system for learning (LMS): There's a good chance companies will need an LMS to manage, deploy, and track its training efforts. LMS automates many remote learning functions such as invitations, learning material assignments, and results tracking.
Authoring tool for eLearning: As part of the remote learning program, whether as asynchronous online modules or as part of a virtual, blended, or flipped classroom model, organizations will need a tool that lets them create what they need quickly and easily. These tools are designed specifically to create online courses and include quizzing, assessments, simulations, and interactions.
Organizations should also make sure their authoring tool allows them to create responsive courses that adapt to any screen and provide an optimal view on any device, including smartphones and tablets. In remote learning, it is common for employees to bring their own devices and complete training on their computers or other devices at home.
Tools for video training: LMSs and authoring tools are effective and streamlined, but sometimes the training requires live interaction with the audience. Zoom is an incredibly popular tool that is integrated with iSpring Learn LMS.
Maintaining a consistent training schedule: The learners will be more inclined to prioritize training, if organizations provide them with a consistent and transparent schedule. A suitable home environment and an internet connection are especially important for remote learning.
It's helpful to use an LMS calendar, such as the one in iSpring Learn, to manage all training activities. The training reports and other important data will be organized in one place rather than on multiple platforms.
Planning and executing pre-training successfully: Remote training will only be as productive as pre-planning. Organizations are managing learner expectations and troubleshooting problems before they occur by laying out the process.
As soon as organizations have outlined the training schedule, sending it to remote employees is a must so they can familiarize themselves with it. Saving up detailed instructions for the training itself is important because pre-training is all about setting expectations.
Implementing best practices in education: When dealing with trainees who aren't in the same room, a few of these techniques are particularly important:
Orientation should be conducted: Preparing a checklist on how to set up the workspace, how to connect, and what to do if challenges arise is crucial. It is also a good idea to let the learners know how to behave during training.
Actions should be communicated: Explaining the course flow at the beginning of the training and constantly reminding trainees where they are within it.
Interacting with it: Asking questions that related to a person's experience, for example, conducting a survey.
